About

Hi there, I am Dr. Xue Jun from China.

I started my studies in acupuncture in 1987. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree from Acupuncture and Tuina College of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine in 1992. Upon graduation, I worked as a resident doctor at the acupuncture ward of the First Affiliated Hospital in Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine.

In 1996, I went on to pursue my M.A and Ph. D degrees in Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and specialized in the treatment of emergent cardiovascular diseases. My studies focused on both traditional Chinese and Western medicine. I was guided through the program by Professor Chen Jinghe, a well-known traditional Chinese physician who has a special allowance from the State Council.

After I received my master’s and doctoral degree in 2001, I contributed to the education, clinic, and research branches of the university. I became a professor in 2009 and was later promoted to Vice Director at the Acupuncture and Tuina College at Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine. I served there until I immigrated to Canada in 2012.

In 2013, I opened my own clinic in Richmond, B.C. on the second floor of YaoHan center – Xue Jun Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture Clinic. During my spare time, I have been continuing my study in acupuncture with the well-known Chinese American acupuncturist – Dr. Liu Wei. With more than 20 years of clinical experience and my continues study, I have cured countless patients.

Services

Acupuncture

Acupuncture can cure a variety of illness effectively, from common cold like headaches and coughs to chronic diseases like arthritis. To give you a better idea, here is a list of illness that I have seen most commonly in the past 10 years and have been treated effectively.

  • Neck pain, spine related problems, low back pain as well as  joint pain caused by different reasons.
  • Gynecology (ie: period problems)
  • Allergies
  • Common cold
  • Headaches, including tension headaches and migraines
  • Facial paralysis
  • Insomnia, stress
  • Tinnitus
  • Just to maintain a good health in general

Keep in mind that these are just the most common illness that I have encountered in the past years but far from the complete list. I have also treated many other cases that are not listed. Therefore, it is perfectly good to book an appointment even if what you are looking for is listed.

The effectiveness of the treatment depends on individuals’ reaction to acupuncture and the type of illness that is being treated. However, please do not worry that you will only “feel” better but not actually better. We actually ask our patient how many percentage they were better after each treatment. Therefore, we always make sure we make concrete progress to improve our patients’ health after each treatment.

Acupuncture is very safe.

In Vancouver and in British Columbia, all acupuncturists must be licensed and registered, and are required to complete an comprehensive acupuncture course provided by CTCMA regardless of their previous experiences. For further information on the regulations and requirements of Acupuncture in BC, click here. As with any medical treatment, there may be risks involved for the individual and it is important to discuss these with your practitioner.

All of our needles are single use and all needles are being put into a special bin, and are safely disposed following the BC Hazardous Waste Recycling regulation.

Short answer: No

Long answer:

It’s a different feeling than pain. Different people reacts to acupuncture differently and different acupoint also has different effect. You might feel numbness, aching, tingling, warmth, distension, heaviness, or lightness.

The bottom line is, the doctor will adjust according to your feeling so that you actually feel good. Most of our clients actually fell into deep sleep during the treatment and felt refreshed after the treatment. So, don’t worry 🙂

  • We do have the options of cupping and massage.
    • For cupping, sometimes the doctor uses it to support the result of acupuncture when needed. If you only want to do cupping without acupuncture, please give us a call to discuss the details.
    • For massage, the doctor only use it to support the result of acupuncture when needed, rather than providing it as a separate treatment.
  • We do not provide moxibustion due to its strong smell and smoke, which is not allowed in the building.

If you are unsure about which treatment fits you the best, the best way is to come in and consult the doctor.

  • Each session lasts for about 1 hour.
  • Acupuncture Cost: $130/session for first-time visit and $108 for return sessions. (Note: prices are adjusted year-over-year, please confirm with doctor the most updated price)
  • If herbal medicine is recommended to accompany the treatment, charges will be applied separately.
  • If you have an insurance that covers acupuncture, we do insurance!
  • If you are covered by low-income benefits, the government will reimburse $23 to you. Please bring your healthcare card for your first visit so that we can check if your MSP includes this benefit for you!

Chinese Herbal Medicine

We have two forms of herbal medicine. One type is in the form of actual plants and the other type is in the form of powder. The effectiveness of both forms are exactly the same. The doctor will prescribe the most fitted one to you based on our availability. The price will vary according to different plants that are needed, and the amount of prescription.
